I mentioned in my recent chatty update that we are now cracking down with the saving for our wedding. I had a few questions on how we're managing to put money aside into a savings account to be able to afford our wedding, so I thought I'd do a post about it.
We are lucky enough that we both earn money so we do have 'disposable income' most of the time. Of course we need to still cover the bills and everything so what we did first was work out the cost of all our outgoings compared to our incomes. We then went through those outgoings and tried to see what we could cut down, for example we cut down our sky bill and our phone bills by making some phone calls and asking to cut out certain things from our packages.
We then looked to see if there was anything we could completely live without, for example magazine subscriptions etc and cancelled those. Lastly, we looked at how much money we spend on takeaways and groceries a month and have cut those down too.
This gave us a good starting point for what we could save a month and then we just started being careful with our disposable income. If we want a day out we try to find somewhere that isn't too expensive or I try to get vouchers for money off and take a picnic which is cheaper than spending money on food.
We also question wether we really need something like a new top or new football boots before buying them. If we really need something then we have to buy it but if we don't we will try not too and save the money. At the end of the day, it isn't forever, it is only until October and it is so we can have an amazing wedding day so it's worth it in the end!
Anymore tips for saving?!
