We got our current sofas second hand when we first moved into this house which was over 3 years ago now! They are black leather and while we did get them for a bargain, I would love something more modern and not so dark. It is handy having the wipe clean leather though, especially with a toddler and puppy so I guess I will have to put up with them for a few more years. I have put together a little inspiration of my 'dream sofa' with the help of the Homebase sofa category and shown how I'd accessorise it as well.
I love mixing and matching when it comes to sofas and arm chairs. I love the neutral plain sofa but then I'd have a contrasting striped arm chair or two to add extra seating and a bit more interest to the room. I do think neutral, plain sofas can look a bit clinical so I'd make it look more 'homely' with some coloured, patterned cushions and a nice throw. I always love a dark red and either stripes or checks for my living room! I think it gives a nice country look which I personally love. I absolutely love this arm chair! I wish I had somewhere to put it now but unfortunately, Sienna's toys take up half of the living room!
You could even totally clash the prints and colours and choose some cushions for the plain sofa that were opposite colours and pattern. I have seen some living room inspiration in magazines do this and if you get it right, it can look really abstract and on trend. I wouldn't trust myself to get it right though, I don't have the best imagination!
What style would you go for?
