Our thoughts on buying a house

When we first met, Warren and I had a rough '5 year plan', the first 'milestone' was to get on the property ladder and buy our first house before having kids. Fast forward 5 years and we have done things the opposite way round and are still no closer to owning our first family home.

It is more Warren's ambition than mine to be honest, I would like to own our home however it does worry me when things go wrong. We currently rent and if anything is wrong with the house or an appliance, the landlord deals with it, that is what we're paying for. However, if we own our house. we'd have to deal with that ourselves. I know you would have home insurance but there are still hidden home hazards that be costly when they happen, but I guess you just have to be careful.

This interactive house from Legal & General shows how you can these costly mishaps from happening which is really helpful.  I guess we'd just have to take advice from those tips and make sure we always have a bit of money in the savings just incase anything was to break or go wrong!

Did you have these worries when buying your own home?
