Best areas for skiing in Canada

Canada has an impressive selection of ski resorts to choose from, no matter what type of holiday you are looking for. If you are traveling as a family, there are plenty of excellent resorts that will provide you with everything you need to enjoy a fun family vacation. Here are a few of the best to help you decide which one to visit on your next family ski vacation.

Mont-Tremblant

Mont-Tremblant is easily one of the best family ski destinations in Canada. Located near to Montreal it is easy to reach, and you will find yourself in one of the best resorts in the country. There are plenty of accommodation options, and skiing is suitable for everyone from beginners to advanced.

The pedestrian village provides everything you need, and the European feel makes it a pleasant place to spend your time. There are plenty of activities for families including dog sledding and a water park, and there is a good terrain park for teenagers.

Daycare is available for kids from one to six years old, and lessons are available for kids over three years old.

Whistler

Whistler and Blackcomb mountains consist of hundreds of marked runs spread over 3,000 hectares of terrain. Whistler is a great resort for any skier, but it is particularly popular with families who book Whistler vacation homes every year.

Ski lessons are available for all ages, and special programs are available for the kids and teens. You can stay in the resort or go exploring in Brandywine Falls Provincial Park, and there are plenty of activities for families including a tube park and dog sledding.

Collingwood

Collingwood is another great option for family skiing. The skiing is not as intense here as at some other resorts, making it a good option for families with young children. Activities and lessons are available for children at the camp, as well as lessons for adults who need to brush up on their skills. There are plenty of beginner and intermediate runs, and there are also lots of other activities including the indoor water park.

Fernie

Located in the Kootenay Rockies, Fernie is not as well known as some other resorts, but its popularity is growing. The powder here is great, and some runs can be very challenging. However, there are lots of great runs for beginners as well, and ski-in/ski-out accommodation is very convenient. There is a childcare center and ski lessons are available for kids. You will also find some good restaurants to eat out at without having to spend a fortune.

Panorama Mountain Resort

The mountain village in Panorama Mountain Resort is very popular with families. There are slopes available for all ability levels, and there are also lots of programs for kids as well as an excellent ski school. You'll love the hot pools outside, and overall it is a fantastic option for family ski vacations.
