DIY heart garland with Hobbycraft heart punch!

Hobbycraft heart punch DIY

I know some people don't do too much for their child's first birthday, but I am not one of those people. I have probably gone a bit over board but I'm so excited, I feel their 1st birthday is such a milestone. Even if Sienna won't remember it, we will have photos and video footage so she can see how much effort we made to celebrate her turning 1 years old.

I have had Sienna's presents wrapped for a while now. I chose 3 different wrapping papers that all go together but are very different at the same time. When we were sent the Hobbycraft heart punch*, I had the idea of making some heart garland to add a little bit more detail to the plain polka dot paper.

I used the punch to cut the hearts out of the other paper scraps I had left and stuck them to some clear/white ribbon to make a pretty little garland. Using the punch is much easier and less time consuming than cutting them out individually, it also makes sure they are roughly the same size and shape. I really like the effect it gives, it isn't too noticeable but does just add a lovely effect to her rather plain paper. I might make some heart confetti with the little bits I have left, it is a great way of recycling old scraps of paper.

This is a great idea for birthdays or even Valentines day. There are endless ideas you can do with a punch, including card making, making stencils and even customising clothes. Pinterest is full of ideas!   I chose the heart punch but Hobbycraft offer a wide range of DIY and making supplies. You and the kids can get creative with Christmas at Hobbycraft and even make your own gifts to give this year.

What will you be making with Hobbycraft?
